Daniel Shepherd of the baseball team and Mackenzie Rogers of women's indoor track and field are the Hood College Athletes of the Week for March 2, 2020.Â
Shepherd went 5-of-8 at the plate with two walks and a sacrifice fly. Shepherd went a perfect 6-for-6 on stolen bases, drove in six runs and scored three times. He went 3-for-4 against Catholic with two runs, two RBIs, a walk and two steals. In the doubleheader sweep over CCNY, he stole four bases and went 2-for-4 with a walk and a sacrifice fly. He drove in two runs in each game.Â
Rogers set a school record to lead the Blazers at the Middle Atlantic Conference Indoor Track and Field Championships. She broke her own school record in the 60 by just 0.01 with her time of 8.30 seconds. The freshman was 10th overall during the preliminaries. On the second day, Rogers completed the 200-meter in 27.64, beating her previous personal record of 28.09 and ranking second in Hood's all-time records for the event. She placed 12th overall.
