YORK, Pa.--The Hood College men's and women's swim teams lost to
York College Saturday. The men (2-2, 1-2 CAC) dropped a 111-48
decision while the women (2-3) fell 122-65.
On the men's side, freshman Eugene Alekseyev won the 50 free
(23.44) and the 100 breast (1:07.26) and was second in the 100 free
(51.42). Senior Stu Kaufman captured the 500 free (5:46.79) and was
second in the 1000 free (11:36.36) while classmate Matt Caron was
second in the 100 fly (1:03.21).
For the women, sophomore Sarah Haney was a double-winner in the
200 IM (2:29.65) and the 100 breast (1:16.03). Junior Katie
Hitchens won the 50 free (25.65) and was second in the 100 free
(1:01.16) while team captain Amy Kaufman turned in two second-place
finishes in the 1000 free (11:46.07) and the 500 free (5:45.80).
The 400 free relay took top honors as Kaufman, Haney, Erica Hamor
and Hitchens finished in 4:10.49.
The women's squad returns to action Saturday, Nov. 11 at Chatham
College at 2 p.m. while the men's squad next travels to St. Mary's
College (Md.) on Nov. 17 for a double-dual with the Seahawks and
the Gallaudet University Bison at 6 p.m.
