FREDERICK, Md.-- The Hood College men's tennis team (1-4) won
four singles matches en route to a narrow 5-4 nonconference victory
over Chestnut Hill College (3-4) Saturday at the Baker Park Tennis
Courts.
Abou Camara, David Blowe, Garrett Loomer and Phil Yerby all won
their respective singles matches while Blowe and Yerby notched a
win at third doubles to lift the Blazers to their first victory of
the spring.
Camara defeated Shane Lesher at second singles, 6-3, 6-3. Blowe
upended Jim Stewart at the No. 3 spot, 7-5, 6-0, and Phil Yerby
downed Reese Brown, 6-4, 6-3, at sixth singles. Loomer ousted Derek
Fikley in three sets, 4-6, 7-6 (4), 7-5 at the No. 5 spot. At third
doubles, Blowe and Yerby teamed up to defeat Fikely and Mike
Maccherone, 8-4.
The Blazers return to action Wednesday at Wesley College at 2
p.m.
