FREDERICK, Md.--The Hood College women's swim team (2-6, 1-4
CAC) won the final two events to come from behind and defeat
Gallaudet University (0-7, 0-6 CAC), 94-82, Saturday in a Capital
Athletic Conference meet at Huntsinger Aquatic Center.
The Blazers trailed the Bison by one point heading into the
final two events of the afternoon. Erica Hamor swam a season-best
time of 1:16.19 to edge GU's Carlisle Robinson in the 100
breaststroke by 0.75 seconds. Hamor then anchored the 400 free
relay squad which crushed the Bison foursome by 1:11.42 to give
Hood its first CAC win of the season. Hamor was also victorious in
the 200 IM (2:28.03).
Melissa Masino swam her best time of the season in the 1000 free
(13:38.80) and won the event by nearly 18 seconds.
Michelle Leggieri (27.43) and Kristen Kucharski (28.81) also
swam season bests and went 1-2 in the 50 free. Kucharski was also
second in the 100 fly in a season-best clocking of 1:13.77 while
Leggeri turned in her best 100 back time, winning the event in
1:09.77.
Ashley Garyn took top honors in the 100 free in a season-best
time of 1:01.11.
Kara Cruice finished second in the 200 IM (2:48.11) and third in
the 100 free (1:07.73).
Hood hosts its final home meet of the season Saturday against
Penn State Altoona at 2 p.m.
