FREDERICK, Md.--The Fairmont State University Falcons (1-0)
defeated the Hood College men's swim team (0-1), 124-50, Saturday
afternoon in the season opener for both schools.
Freshman Andrew Bodine picked up his first collegiate win by
capturing top honors in the 200 individual medley. Bodine bested
two Falcons in the event with a time of 2:16.19. He was also third
in the 100 back (1:03.22).
Senior team captain Chris Moreland took second in the 1000 free
(12:37.37) and the 500 free (6:01.34).
Junior Kyle Atras came in fourth in the 200 free (2:34.24) and
third in the 500 free (7:08.93) while senior Thomas Williams
finished fourth in the 50 free (32.49) and the 100 free (1:14.68)
and third in the 100 breast (1:26.08).
In the first meets of their hood careers, Ethan Weidman finished
third in the 200 free (2:13.16) and the 100 free (59.69), while
Matthew Benoit took third in the 50 free (24.19) and second in the
100 fly (1:03.41).
The Blazers' next meet is slated for Friday, Nov. 6, at York
College (Pa.). The University of Mary Washington Eagles will also
participate in the Capital Athletic Conference tri-meet which
begins at 6 p.m.
