FREDERICK, Md.--The Hood College men's tennis team (3-10)
dropped a narrow 5-4 decision to the visiting McDaniel College
Green Terror (1-0) Monday afternoon in a nonconference match at the
Baker Park Tennis Courts.
Carter Reitman and David Blowe cruised at second and third
singles, respectively, and Kenny Smith picked up a forfeit victory
at the No. 6 spot.
McDaniel clinched the match at fourth singles despite a valiant
effort by senior Garrett Loomer. After dropping the first set to
Adrian Pettaway, 6-4, Loomer rallied to capture the second set,
7-6, in a tiebreaker (8-6). Pettaway and Loomer then engaged in a
10-point tiebreaker to decide the match, and Pettaway came away
victorious, 10-5.
Hood returns to action Thursday hosting Capital Athletic
Conference foe St. Mary's College (Md.) at 3:30 p.m. at the Baker
Park Tennis Courts.
