FREDERICK, Md.--The Hood College men's tennis team (4-14, 2-4 CAC) put the skids on a six-match losing streak with a 6-3 Capital Athletic Conference victory over St. Mary's College (Md.) (11-9, 1-5 CAC) Friday afternoon at the Baker Park Tennis Courts.

Hood's top three singles players all earned straight set victories after the Blazers registered the first two points of the match at first and second doubles.

Carter Reitman toppled Jeremy Butanis, 6-2, 6-1, at the No. 1 spot for his 10th singles win of the season. David Blowe upended Thomas Joesman, 6-3, 6-0, to improve to 4-3 at second singles and Mike Hardman ousted Jeff Levy for his seventh singles victory.

Reitman and Hardman teamed up to defeat Butanis and Sam Barton, 8-2, for their team-best fifth doubles win. Blowe and Garrett Loomer evened their record as a doubles tandem at 2-2 by defeating Ken Bugent and Levy, 8-5.

The Blazers clinched the No. 5 seed in the CAC tournament with today's triumph and will travel to fourth-seeded Stevenson University Saturday for a noon match. The Mustangs got the best of the Blazers in the regular season, winning 6-3 back on March 20.
