Blazer Men Snap Four-Match Slide With 5-4 Triumph Over Seahawks

ST. MARY'S CITY, Md.--The Hood College men's tennis team (3-6, 1-2 CAC) halted its four-match losing skid and earned its first Capital Athletic Conference victory of the season with a 5-4 decision over St. Mary's College (Md.) (10-6, 2-2 CAC) Wednesday afternoon at the Somerset Tennis Complex.

Despite traveling with only five players, the Blazers took both contested doubles matches and won three singles matches to record their first win since Oct. 5.

Mike Hardman and Carter Reitman dispatched Thomas Hoesman and Joshua Olexa, 8-5, at the top spot and the second doubles duo of Andrew and David Blowe downed Sam Barton and Kenny Nugent, 8-5. SMCM earned a point at third doubles via a forfeit.

Hardman rolled over Jeff Levy at second singles, 6-0, 6-1, to improve to 7-1 in singles action, while Reitman wore down Hoesman in three sets, 6-3, 2-6, 6-0.

David Blowe won the clinching singles match and remains undefeated at the No. 3 position with a come-from-behind, 4-6, 6-1, 6-0 triumph over Barton.

Hood looks to make it two in a row Thursday in a CAC battle with CAC foe Wesley College at 3:30 p.m. at Baker Park.
