Shenandoah Upends Men's Tennis in Spring Opener, 6-3

WINCHESTER, Va.--The Hood College men's tennis team (0-4) fell to the Shenandoah University Hornets (3-1) by a count of 6-3 Saturday evening in the first spring match of the season for both schools.

Mike Hardman and Travis Kline were winners for Hood in singles action. Hardman dropped the first set to Dustan DeMello, 7-5, but rallied to capture the final two sets, 6-1, 6-1, at second singles. Kline knocked off Tim Lutz, 8-4, at the No. 6 spot.

Kline also teamed with Andrew Blowe to win at third doubles, 8-5, over Lutz and Julian Fehr. Hardman and Carter Reitman suffered a narrow defeat at first doubles, 9-8 (7-5) to DeMello and Michael Milanov.

The Blazers' next match is slated for Tuesday, March 8, against Southern Virginia University at the Baker Park Tennis Courts at 3:30 p.m.
