FREDERICK, Md.--The Hood College men's tennis team (0-1) dropped an 8-1 decision to the visiting Catholic University Cardinals (2-0) Friday afternoon in the Blazers' season opener at Baker Park.

Senior Carter Reitman and sophomore Chad Love teamed up to earn Hood's lone point of the contest at second doubles, defeating Brian Bradley and Joe Peters, 8-6. At first singles, Reitman battled CUA's Cassian Utrie to a third set but came up short, falling 6-2, 5-7, 2-10.

The Blazers will play their next three fall matches on the road, traveling to Shepherd University on Sept. 27, Alvernia University Oct. 1 and McDaniel College Oct. 7.
