ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa.--The Hood College women's swim team (4-1, 2-1
MAC) got back on the winning track with a 115-85 dual meet victory
versus Middle Atlantic Conferences opponent Elizabethtown College
(1-1, 1-1 MAC) Wednesday evening.
Hood notched three school records in the triumph. The 400 medley
relay team of Lauren Knutson, Lauren Fogarty, Shannon McHale and
Caitlin Fay clocked a time of 4:21.83, shattering the previous
school record from the 2011 Randolph-Macon Invitational on Nov. 19
(4:28.19, Theresa Schwarzwalder, Arielle Harding, Daniela
Mittelkamp, Hayley Rogers).
In the individual races, Fogarty lowered teammate McHale's 100
fly team record by 0.04 seconds with a first-place time of 1:01.78
(old record McHale 1:01.82, Oct. 27 at Cabrini). McHale shaved 0.15
seconds off her own 100 back team record with a winning time of
1:02.69 (old record McHale 1:02.84, Oct. 20 at Arcadia).
Hood's other winners on the night included Brittany Whitham in
the 500 free (5:34.79) and the 1000 free (11:24.75), Fay in the 100
free (57.17) and 200 free (2:04.21) and Knutson in the 200 IM
(2:27.72).
The Blazers journey to Messiah College for a MAC quad meet with
the Falcons as well as Widener University and FDU-Florham Saturday
at 1 p.m.
