Rogers' Pool Record Highlights Hood's Sweep at Messiah Quad

GRANTHAM, Pa. - Freshman Cameron Rogers (Severn, Md. / Archbishop Spalding) set the pool record in the 1,650-yard freestyle as Hood College swept a quad meet at Messiah.

The Blazers defeated the hosts 112-92 and also picked up wins over Widener and FDU-Florham. Hood won 108-96 over the Pride and scored a resounding 167-30 victory over the Devils. The three wins pushed Hood's win streak to six straight.

Rogers, BJ Daisey (Lewes, Del. / Sussex Tech) and Alex Bodine (Frederick, Md. / Urbana) each won two events in the four-team field.

Rogers won the 1650 by over a minute with his time of 16:54.97. Michael Curry (Charlotte, N.C. / Charlotte Catholic) took third in the event in 18:31.13.

The duo also took first and third in the 500 free. Again, it was Rogers with the win, touching the wall in 5:01.03. Curry captured third with his final time of 5:08.02.

Curry picked up a win of his own in the 200 free in 1:51.31.

Bodine and Daisey led off the 200 medley relay for the first of their two victories on the day. The pair teamed with Daulton Swan (Farmington, Utah / Viewmont) and Lucas Mestas-Nunez (Corpus Christi, Texas / Bluff) for the winning time of 1:40.83. Bodine went on to win the 100 butterfly in 54.97. Daisey's other victory came in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:02.65.

Daisey and Chris Gardner (Smyrna, Del. / Cab Calloway School of the Arts) placed second and third, respectively, in the 400 individual medley. Daisey had the edge going into the last 50 yard, with Gardner closing in. But the final push was not enough as Daisey's time of 4:39.44 was 0.06 faster than his teammate.

Hood took second and third in the 100 backstroke behind the efforts of Bodine and Gardner. Bodine took second in 55.75, with Gardner's 57.02 good for third place.

The Blazers' 400 freestyle relay of Mestas-Nunez, Gardner, Swan and Jonathan Collier (Darby, Pa. / Home Schooled) was third with its time of 3:26.07.

Hood returns home to host King's on November 16 at the Huntsinger Aquatics Center at 2 p.m.
