GRANTHAM, Pa. - Hood College defeated FDU-Florham, but fell to Messiah and Widener in a quad meet hosted by the Falcons.
The Blazers pounded the Devils 162-19 for their lone win on the day. The Pride edged out Hood by just two points, 103-101, and Messiah downed the Blazers 140-64.
Lauren Fogarty (Arnold, Md. / Broadneck) notched Hood's only event win of the day, with a victory in the 400-yard individual medley. The sophomore captured the win with her time of 4:53.09.
Shannon McHale (Hauppauge, N.Y. / Hauppauge) was second in a pair of events, and Fogarty, Ashley Griffin (Littlestown, Pa. / Delone Catholic), and Caitlin Fay (Henrico, Va. / Mills E. Godwin) finished second in events, as well.
McHale was second in both the 100 butterfly and 100 backstroke. The sophomore touched the wall in 1:03.13 in the fly, and she needed just 1:04.04 to finish the 100 back.
Fogarty's second place finish came in the 1650 freestyle with a time of 19:17.72. Fay finished third in the event in 19:26.41.
Fay captured second place in the meet's next event with a 2:04.31 in the 200 free. She was later third in the 500 free with her time of 5:38.01.
Griffin finished second in the 50 free, going up and back in 26.67.
Hood's 200 medley relay team of McHale, Shannon Welch (Henderson, Nev. / Las Vegas Academy of the Arts), Fogarty and Griffin placed third in 1:57.92. The 400 free relay of Hayley Rogers (Jefferson, Md. / Brunswick), Sydney Langer (Falls Church, Va. / Falls Church), Theresa Schwarzwalder (Columbia, Md. / Wilde Lake) and Anne Lessard (Natick, Mass. / Natick) finished fourth with its time of 4:02.50.
Hood returns home to host King's on November 16 at the Huntsinger Aquatics Center.
