FREDERICK, Md. - Hood College's Cameron Proctor (Columbia, Md. / Howard) won his collegiate debut playing at first singles, but Stevenson took home the team scoring 6-2 over the Blazers at the Hood Tennis Complex.
Luis Cotto (Frederick, Md. / Tuscarora) and Chad Love (Boonsboro, Md. / Boonsboro) got Hood in the win column during doubles play with a resounding 8-1 win over Anthony Carle and Robert Reinhold at third doubles.
Proctor captured a straight-set win at first singles, defeating Robbie Baker 6-1, 6-3, but the Mustangs would capture the final four completed singles matches to seal the team win.
Cotto forced a third set at sixth singles, but was outlasted by Reinhold 6-2, 1-6, 10-6.
The match at fourth singles between Anthony King (Elizabethtown, Pa. / Elizabethtown) and Peter Hoblitzell went unfinished.
The Blazers are back on the courts on Wednesday, September 25 when Frostburg State visits Frederick.
