WINCHESTER, Va. - The Hood College men's tennis team dropped its opening match of the spring season with a 9-0 non-conference loss to Shenandoah at the indoor courts of the Winchester Country Club.

The Hornets swept all three doubles matches, with the Blazers' closest call coming at second doubles, where Vladislav Sluchenkov (Vladivostok, Russia / Garmonia) and Luis Cotto (Frederick, Md. / Tuscarora) lost 8-2 to Will Leachand Zach O'Neal.

Cotto took the first set at fifth singles, before Brett Holmes came back for a 3-6, 6-4, 1-0 win.

Chad Love (Boonsboro, Md. / Boonsboro) fought hard in the first set before falling 7-5, 6-1 to Kelly Sykes.

Hood is idle until March 23, when the Blazers head to St. Mary's (Md.).
