FREDERICK, Md. - Hood College dropped a 9-0 final to visiting Messiah in the Commonwealth Conference opener for both teams.

The closest call in doubles action came at second doubles, where Vladislav Sluchenkov (Vladivostok, Russia / Garmonia) and Richard Hershey (Boonsboro, Md. / Boonsboro) fell 8-5 to Devin Esch and Peter Shuck.

Tyler Shuck (Frederick, Md. / Tuscarora) had the closest match in singles at third singles. He fell to Peter Shuck 6-4, 6-1. 

Anthony King (Elizabethtown, Pa. / Elizabethtown) and Luis Cotto (Frederick, Md. / Tuscarora) lost at second and sixth singles by identical 6-1, 6-2 finals. 

Hood hosts Lebanon Valley on Senior Day on April 5.
