Hood Drops Match at Catholic, 6-3

WASHINGTON, D.C. - Hood College and Catholic University split the six singles flights, but the Cardinals swept the three doubles matches to earn a 6-3 victory over the Blazers.

Vladislav Sluchenkov (Vladivostok, Russia / Garmonia), Joshua Sexton (Mesa, Ariz. / Mesa) and Alex Sexton (Mesa, Ariz. / Mesa) each won singles matches for Hood.

Sluchenkov defeated Rocky Alagbani 6-4, 6-4 at first singles for his first victory of the season. At third singles, Joshua Sexton outlasted Robert Alexander in three sets, 6-2, 3-6, 6-4. His brother Alex tallied the Blazers' other win and remained undefeated in singles play. Alex defeated Jon Purowitz 6-3, 6-2. 

With the loss, Hood falls to 0-2 on the year, while Catholic improved to 2-1. 

The Blazers hit the courts again on September 20 when they host Cabrini.
