READING, Pa. - The trio of Alex Bodine (Frederick, Md. / Urbana), Chris Gardner (Smyrna, Del. / Cab Calloway School of the Arts) and Cameron Rogers (Severn, Md. / Archbishop Spalding) won two individual events apiece, but Hood dropped a 149-112 final at Albright in Middle Atlantic Conference action.
Gardner added a third win as part of the 400-yard freestyle relay, the day's final event. He led off and was followed by Lucas Mestas-Nunez (Corpus Christi, Texas / Bluff), Jonathan Collier (Darby, Pa. / Home Schooled) and Dillon Marier (Dover, Del. / Dover) for a time of 3:22.43.
Earlier in the meet, Gardner picked up wins in the 200 free and 200 backstroke. He won by 12 seconds in the 200 back with his time of 2:02.24. Collier was third in the event in 2:17.64. Gardner's winning time in the 200 free was 1:52.62, and Mestas-Nunez was 3.48 seconds off the pace in third.
Rogers remained undefeated in the 500 and 1,000 free events. He won the 1,000 by 50 seconds with his time of 10:08.46, and covered the 500 in 4:54.86.
Bodine's first win of the afternoon came in the 100 back, where his time of 55.88 was over four seconds faster than the second place finisher. Collier was third in 1:02.40. Bodine then won the 100 free, when he outreached the second place finisher by only 0.06 for the win in 49.87.
Sophomore BJ Daisey (Lewes, Del. / Sussex Tech) finished second in both of the breaststroke events and the 200 individual medley. He swam a 1:02.55 in the 100 and a 2:21.63 in the 200. Kenny Garced-Valle (Frederick, Md. / Tuscarora) was third in the 100 in 1:08.58. In the 200 IM, Daisey turned in a time of 2:11.33.
In the 50 free, Marier was third in 22.26.
The Blazers' 400 medley relay of Gardner, Daisey, Bodine and Marier was second in 3:38.59.
Hood hosts Wilkes in the Blazers' home opener on January 10.
