FREDERICK, Md. - Hood College defeated Lebanon Valley Saturday afternoon with a 145-53 victory in a Middle Athletic Conference dual meet.
Alex Bodine (Frederick, Md. / Urbana) and Dillon Marier (Dover, Del. / Dover) both won two individual events and were part of a winning relay team. Chris Gardner (Smyrna, Del. / Cab Calloway School of the Arts) swam a leg in two winning relay races and took home an individual event as well. BJ Daisey (Lewes, Del. / Sussex Tech) added one individual win and was a part of a winning relay team as well. Cameron Rogers (Severn, Md. / Archbishop Spalding) won two individual events.
The Blazers first top finish of the day came on the 200-yard medley relay by Gardner, Daisey, Victor Muleki (Irving, Texas / MacArthur) and Jonathan Collier (Darby, Pa. / Home Schooled). The four swam a season-best 1:40.65.
Marier took first place in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:52.89. Daisey and Collier finished second and third respectively. Marier finished first in the 100-yard freestyle as well.
Bodine scored his individual wins in the 50 free (21.88) and the 100-yard backstroke (55.74). Muleki was second in the 50 free in 23.30 and Curry was third, 0.30 after Muleki. Collier joined Bodine in the 100 back and took third in 1:04.02. Bodine also swam a leg in the winning 200 free relay with Marier, Gardner and Lucas Mestas-Nunez (Corpus Christi, Texas / Bluff) (1:30.35).
Gardner swam a winning time of 2:05.90 in the 200 individual medley.
Rogers remained undefeated in the distance freestyle events. He took home the 1000 free with a time of 10:09.08 and the 500 free touching the pad at 4:59.50. Curry placed second in the 500 event.
Daisey placed first in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:49.68. Peter Shepherd (New Market, Md. / Linganore) took third with a time of 1:12.35.
Shepherd added a second place finish in the 100 butterfly in 1:00.68.
Hood honored its three seniors before the meet, Bodine, Collier and Shepherd.
The victory closed out the dual meet season for the Blazers with a 7-5 overall mark and a 6-4 record in the MAC.
Hood travels to York, Pennsylvania for the MAC Championships on February 12-15.
