FREDERICK, Md. - The Hood College men's swim team won 6-of-11 events in a quad meet to defeat Frostburg State, Goucher and Stevenson.
The Blazers defeated the Bobcats 126-76; the Gophers 131-71; and the Mustangs 144-24.
Chris Gardner (Smyrna, Del. / Cab Calloway School of the Arts), Michael Curry (Charlotte, N.C. / Charlotte Catholic), Ernesto Evans (Upper Marlboro, Md. / Largo), Cameron Rogers (Severn, Md. / Archbishop Spalding), Ryan Franklin (Frederick, Md. / Homeschool) and Dillon Marier (Dover, Del. / Dover) each won twice. BJ Daisey (Lewes, Del. / Sussex Tech) and Matt Ball (Westminster, Md. / Winters Mill) earned wins on the day, as well.
Rogers continued his excellence in the distance freestyle events, winning both the 500 and 1000. He swam a 10:28.66 to win the 1000, then a 5:06.03 for victory in the 500. Max Riedel (Adamstown, Md. / Homeschool) finished second in both events, swimming a 10:48.48 in the 1000 and a 5:14.72 in the 500.
The Blazers won both relays at the meet. Gardner, Daisey, Curry and Evans swam a 1:41.85 in the 200 medley to open the competition. In the day's final event, Ball, Franklin, Evans and Marier won the 200 free relay in 1:31.13.
Curry defeated Ball to win the 200 free. Curry touched the wall in 1:52.96, while Ball claimed second in 1:54.14.
In the 100-yard butterfly, Franklin turned in the winning effort of 56.61.
Marier claimed victory in the 100 free in 49.66.
Gardner scored a win in the 100-yard backstroke with his time of 54.35. He and Daisey took second and third in the 200-yard individual medley with times of 2:07.03 and 2:07.91, respectively.
Evans was second in the 50 free in 22.86, as was Daisey in the 100-yard breaststroke in 1:02.88.
Hood will carry a 4-0 record into a home meet with Lycoming on October 31.
