FREDERICK, Md. - Hood College senior Shannon McHale (Hauppage, N.Y. / Hauppage) won three times, but it was not enough as the Blazers went 1-2 at a quad meet with Frostburg State, Goucher and Stevenson.
Hood defeated the Mustangs 113-75, but fell 108-90 against Goucher and 104-96 to the Bobcats.
McHale was a winner in the 200-yard medley relay, the 100-yard butterfly and the 100-yard backstroke. She combined with Sarah Elkhoga (Pasadena, Md. / Chesapeake), Lauren Fogarty (Arnold, Md. / Broadneck) and Briana Hand-Solomon (Dover, Del. / Dover) for a winning time of 1:58.69 in the medley relay. In the 100 fly, she touched the wall for the win in 1:02.93. McHale scored victory in the 100 back in 1:02.71.
Brittany Whitham (Fort Collins, Colo. / Resurrection Christian) and Fogarty had second place finishes in individual events for the Blazers. Whitham's 11:54.51 was good for second in the 1000 free. Fogarty was the runner up in the 200 IM with a time of 2:21.01.
The 200 free relay of Sydney Langer (Falls Church, Va. / Falls Church), Whitham, Elkhoga and Anne Lessard (Natick, Mass. / Natick) was second with a time of 1:50.32.
Hood hosts Lycoming on October 31.
