Rogers, Marier, Daisey Victorious at Messiah Quad

MECHANICSBURG, Pa. - Hood College's Cameron Rogers (Severn, Md. / Archbishop Spalding), Dillon Marier (Dover, Del. / Dover) and BJ Daisey (Lewes, Del. / Sussex Tech) won events to lead the Blazers in a quad-meet at Messiah, featuring Widener and FDU-Florham.

Hood defeated both the Falcons (110.5-93.5) and Devils (148-39), but fell to the Pride (122-82). The loss to Widener was the Blazers' first of the year, as Hood is now 7-1 overall and 5-1 against Middle Atlantic Conference opponents.

Rogers claimed victories in the 500- and 1000-yard freestyle events, while Marier won the 50 free.

The wins in the distance events continue Rogers' run of excellence in the events. He extended his win streak in dual, tri or quad meets to 16 straight in the 500 and 15 in a row in the 1,000. He picked up Hood's first win of the afternoon with a time of 10:21.20 in the 1,000, over 14 seconds ahead of the runner up. In the 500, he won by over eight seconds with his 5:00.55.

Marier went up and back in just 22.42 in the 50 to win by 0.12 seconds. In the 100 free, he turned in a time of 50.10 to finish third. Teammate Ernesto Evans (Upper Marlboro, Md. / Largo) was fifth in 52.45.

Daisey picked up the win in the 100 breaststroke by the slimmest of margins. He touched the wall in 1:02.92, just 0.05 seconds ahead of Widener's Andy Madore.

Chris Gardner (Smyrna, Del. / Cab Calloway School of the Arts) was second in the 100 backstroke with a time of 55.30. He was fourth in the 100 individual medley in 57.63, with Daisey fifth in 58.85.
