Hood Stung by Hornets in Spring Opener

WINCHESTER, Va. - The Hood College men's tennis team was swept 9-0 by Shenandoah in the spring opener for both squads at the Winchester Country Club's indoor courts.

Alex Sexton (Mesa, Ariz. / Mesa) forced a third set against Jesse Ewing at third singles before falling 6-3, 4-6, 6-2 in the night's closest match. 

The Blazers, who fell to 2-3 in 2014-15, had a pair of doubles teams win three games. Vladimir Sluchenkov (Vladivostok, Russia / Garmonia) and Sexton fell to Steven Baker and Ewing 8-3 at first doubles. The Hornets' Matt Hwang and Blake Sharp defeated Joshua Sexton (Mesa, Ariz. / Mesa) and Philip Roedig (Farmingdale, N.Y. / St. John the Baptist) by the same score at second doubles. 

Hood is idle until Misericordia visits on March 21.
