DOYLESTOWN, Pa. - The Hood College men's tennis team notched a 6-1 win at Delaware Valley for the first collegiate coaching victory for Head Coach John Koepke.
Both doubles pairings won by matching 8-1 scores to start the day. Alex Sexton (Mesa, Ariz. / Mesa) and Joshua Sexton (Mesa, Ariz. / Mesa) teamed up for a win at first doubles over Alex Weiss and Harry Guenst. At second doubles, Joe Benton (Mechanicsburg, Pa. / Cumberland Valley) and Natnail Tesfay (Rockville, Md. / Wheaton) defeated Colin Evoy and Nicolas Princetta.
The Blazers won the top three singles flights in straight sets. Alex Sexton was a 6-0, 6-4 winner over Weiss at first singles. Joshua Sexton won 6-2, 6-1 against Evoy at second singles. Benton shut out Princetta at third singles, 6-0, 6-0.
At fourth singles, Tesfay held a 1-0 lead in the first set when his opponent retired.
Hood hosts Catholic on September 30.
