ST. DAVIDS, Pa. - The Hood College men's tennis team fell in a non-conference match at Eastern, 7-2.

Both of the Blazers' points came in singles play. At third singles, Joe Benton (Mechanicsburg, Pa. / Cumberland Valley) was pushed to the limit in both sets, but came away with a 7-5, 7-5 victory over Mitchell Weaver. Conor Riggin (Sykesville, Md. / Century) needed three sets at sixth singles to score a 6-4, 1-6, 6-1 win over Ryan Ellison.

Alex Sexton (Mesa, Ariz. / Mesa) and Richard Hershey (Boonsboro, Md. / Boonsboro) both took opponents to three sets, but fell short. Grant Williams knocked off Sexton at first singles 6-4, 3-6, 6-1. At fourth singles, Hershey fell to Jackson Wetherbee 4-6, 7-6 (4), 6-1.

Hood hosts Messiah on Apr. 20.
