Men's Tennis Pushes McDaniel to the Brink

WESTMINSTER, Md. - The Hood College men's tennis team nearly picked up its first win of the season, but McDaniel spoiled the Blazers' hopes 5-4.

How it Happened

  • Hood won two of the three doubles matches. Alex Sexton and Joe Benton teamed up for an 8-5 win at first doubles over Corey Glocker and Andrew Kendrick. The third doubles pairing of Tanner Ruths and Alex Beaumont was victorious over Nick Reed and Brandon Schlichtig 8-2.
  • The Green Terror pulled out the win by taking four of the six singles matches, three of which went to a third set. The only three-set win for Hood came at fifth singles from Ruths. He was a 6-3, 4-6, 6-1 winner over Logan Linderman.
  • Jorden Hahn notched a convincing 6-0, 6-1 win over Kendrick at third singles.
  • Conor Riggin and Beaumont lost in three sets at fourth and sixth singles, respectively. Sexton fell to Will Giles by the narrowest of margins at first singles, 7-5, 7-5.
