FROSTBURG, Md. - Hood College's
Megan Carter won at both first singles and first doubles as the women's tennis team fell at Division II Frostburg State 6-1.
Doubles
- Carter teamed with Skylar Wright for a 7-6 win at first doubles via an 8-6 tie-breaker victory.
- Paige Langmead and Jennifer Slick nearly secured the doubles' point for the Blazers but were outlasted by Rabiatu Ladan and Allison Paul 6-4.
Singles
- Carter notched her second win of the afternoon with a 6-1, 6-3 victory at first singles over Aisling Woulfe.
- At second singles, Wright dropped a first set tiebreaker 9-7 to Immanuella Odiong and battled hard in the second set before Odiong emerged a 7-6, 7-5 winner.
- Abbey Bloom forced a third set super tiebreaker against Erika Femne but the Bobcats picked up the win 7-5, 2-6, 10-8.
- At fifth singles, Katie Cautero pushed Shea Przywieczerski to a first set tiebreaker but fell 7-6 (6), 6-3.
Notes
- The two teams used the Intercollegiate Tennis Association's Division II scoring format for the match. Doubles matches were played to six and the institution that won 2-of-3 earned one point. In matches between Division III teams, doubles go to eight and all three matches earn one point in the team scoring.
- Hood drops to 3-3 on the season.
- Frostburg State improved to 3-4.
