Women's tennis falls in quarterfinals

READING, Pa. - The Hood College women's tennis team dropped its Middle Atlantic Conference Commonwealth Quarterfinal match at third-seeded Alvernia 5-0. 

Doubles 
  • The No. 1 doubles team of Megan Carter and Skylar Wright took Leah Bouchard and Laura Covely to a tiebreaker but ultimately fell 8-7 (7-5). 
  • The Golden Wolves won the other two flights of doubles, to carry a 3-0 lead into singles play. 
Singles
  • Hood's Hannah Dumikjan and Abbey Bloom fell in the first two completed singles matches as Alvernia clinched the victory. Lily Summerson defeated Dumikjan 6-1, 6-1 at fourth singles. Elizabeth Danovich was a 6-1, 6-2 winner over Bloom at No. 5. 
  • The only other match with a completed set was at second singles, where Wright carried a 7-5 lead when play was halted.

  • Alvernia advances to the conference semifinals with the win.
