FREDERICK, Md. -- Tyler James (Frederick, Md./Middletown) won in both singles and doubles, but it wasn't enough against visiting McDaniel College, who defeated the Blazers 7-2.

Doubles

• James paired up with first-year Isaac Hatch (Brunswick, Md./Brunswick) to prevail in a tightly contested match at No. 1 doubles, 8-7 (7-3). The win was a career first for Hatch and also the first for the James/Hatch duo.

Singles

• James cruised through his first singles match, winning 6-2, 6-1.
• Dhane McCloud (Waldorf, Md./Thomas Stone) pushed his opponent in both sets but fell 7-5, 6-4.
