OWINGS MILL, Md. – The Hood College women's swimming team came up short in their season opener, falling to Goucher and Middle Atlantic Conference Commonwealth opponent Stevenson.

Top Finishers
Andrea Kassa (Monongahela, Pa./Ringgold) took home gold in the 1000-yard and 500-yard freestyle, touching the wall at 12:00.69 and 5:49.74, respectively.
Sidney Brinkman (Lancaster, Pa./Lampeter-Strasburg) finished the 50-yard freestyle in 27.62 for fourth place, and grabbed a bronze finish in the 100-yard freestyle with a 1:00.52.
Josephine Sasse (Frederick, Md./Oakdale) finished in second place in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:23.74.
The 200-yard freestyle relay team of Kassa, Brinkman,
Emma Bowers (New Market, Md./Linganore High School), and
Hannah-Grace Enriquez (Frederick,Md./Frederick High School) ended the day on a high note with their first-place finish of 1:55.50.
