STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. – The men's track and field squad opened up indoor season by traveling to Wagner for the Seahawk Shootout on Friday afternoon.
The day was highlighted by Top 15 finishes for both
Chris Sappe (Ijamsville, Md./Urbana) and
Harryson Bellevue (Brooklyn, N.Y/Coney Island Prep).
Top Finishes
Bellevue shined in his high jump event where he jumped a mark of 1.85 on his second try and put himself in 10
th for Hood's highest finish on the day.
The popular men's mile was led by Sappe looking healthy with a time of 4:29.98 to finish 13
th.
Alex Seskar (Great Mills, Md./Great Mills) followed in 38
th with a 4:50.07 time,
Warren Hersh (Havre de Grace, Md./The Tome School) in 44
th with a 4:59.83 and
Leule Yohannes (Rockville, Md./Richard Montgomery) in 53
rd with 5:09.76 on the track.
Jamel Mins (Columbia, Md./Atholton) had a busy day but started in the 60-meter dash where he finished 25
th with a time of 7.17 to lead the Blazers. He followed that with a 23
rd place finish in the 300 meters with a time of 35.99. Juan Carlos Barberena finished the first meet of year two with a 51
st place finish and a time of 36.95.
The 600-meter race was led by
Tyshawn Brownfield (Waldorf, Md./Westlake) in 38
th with a time of 1:29.95 followed by
Owen Ellington (Laurel, Md./Gonzaga College) in 50
th with a time of 1:35.79.
In the 1000-meter event,
Thomas Kasanicky (Eagle Mountain, Utah/Westlake) represented Hood and placed 30
th with straight 3's – 3:33.33.

The squad will wait until 2025 to compete at Shenandoah at the
Kaye & JJ Invitational on January 12.
