Kempert selected for NCAA FAR Institute

FREDERICK, Md. – Kathleen Kempert, Hood College Athletics' Faculty Athletic Representative, has been selected to represent the college at the NCAA Division III FAR Institute this upcoming November.

The FAR Institute event is an initiative by the NCAA to support faculty athletics representatives (FARs) in governance, strategic planning, academic standards and student-athlete advocacy. As a vital link in an institution's strategic communications chain, FARs help articulate the relationship between intercollegiate athletics and higher education.

This opportunity is fully funded by the NCAA and FARs are nominated by presidents, commissioners, athletic directors or senior women administrators before being selected to attend.

Kempert is not only in the FAR for athletics and an instructor of composition in the English department, but an avid marathon participant.

This past month, she ran the TCS Chicago Marathon, one of the six original world majors and finished in a time of 3:29:38. Her time earned her qualifier at the 2027 Sydney, Berlin, Chicago, and NYC Marathons and the 2028 Boston Marathon.

In fact, out of the 55,000 runners the time placed her in the top 19% overall, the top 10% of female runners, and the top 7% for her age group.
