Blaine Davies

Blaine Davies was named the head tennis coach at Hood College in January 2019. 

Hood's women started the 2019-20 season with a 3-3 record before the spring season was halted due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The women's team was named an ITA Academic Team and a total of 11 Blazers between the men's and women's teams were ITA Scholar-Athletes.

In 2019, the women's team started the spring season with three-straight wins. Megan Carter was named the Middle Atlantic Conference Commonwealth Women’s Tennis Player of the Year, while Skylar Wright accompanied her on the all-conference team.

He comes to Hood after serving as a volunteer assistant coach at Division I Coppin State in the fall of 2018 for both the men's and women's programs. He served as the assistant women's coach at Fayetteville State in 2017-18. 

Davies has been a recreation programs assistant for the United States Tennis Association in the Mid-Atlantic Region since 2018. He is responsible for managing after-school programs in Howard and Anne Arundel counties. He has been the head tennis professional at Sparrows Point since April 2018 and joined West Winds Tennis and Fitness as a staff professional in August 2018. 

His past experience includes time as a head coach with TGA Premier Youth Sports and summer teaching pro at Fayetteville Racket Club. 

Davies played collegiately at Virginia State University and earned his paralegal certification from the George Mason University School of Executive Education in 2013.
