Ethan Lester is in his third season in 2016-17 as an assistant men's golf coach at Hood College. He also serves as the head women's golf coach for the Blazers.
During his first two years on the men's staff, the Blazers set school records for team average both years, including 327.5 in 2015-16.
With over 20 years of experience in the golf industry, Lester has learned the ins and outs of the business and the game, which he applies daily as a PGA golf professional and general manager of Maryland National Golf Club in Middletown.
Lester played at the high school level in Western North Carolina at Pisgah High School. After attending college he began a career in the golf industry as a golf course superintendent. While working his way up the corporate ladder in golf, he continued his competitive golf as an amateur. Lester played in many amateur tournaments as well as several mini tour events.
Since successfully qualifying to enter the PGA of America Apprentice program he has been sharing his passion and knowledge of the game with those who visit him at the golf course. Lester began sharing that same knowledge of golf with the area’s youth beginning in 2012 as the head golf coach at South Hagerstown High School. In a short two years as the SHHS coach, Lester was able to take a team from a no-win season to a winning record, and was successful in taking two of his players to the State Tournament, making school history. In the 2014 season, Lester had another successful season as the head golf coach of Middletown High School, where he led his state-qualifying team to an 11-3 record.
