Tim Halter enters his third season as head coach of the HoodCollege men's and women's tennis teams in 2013-14 after previouslyserving as an assistant from March 2008-May 2009.
His 2013-14 squads continued the rebuilding process for theBlazers during their second season in the Commonwealth Conference.On the men's side, Vladimir Sluchenkov earned second teamall-conference, while Olivia Hosch earned the same accolade on thewomen's side. The men's squad won two Commonwealth matches, thefirst in program history, and remained alive in the hunt for theconference playoffs until the final day of the season. The women'steam posted a one-win improvement over the previous season.
During his first year as head coach, Halter tutored four totalAll-Commonwealth Conference selections. On the women's side, EmilyMaerz was named to the first team, while teammate Olivia Hoschearned honorable mention accolades. Men's players Luis Cottoand Chad Love were named honorable mentions.
Halter currently serves as the head tennis professional atCattail Creek Country Club in Glenwood, Md., where he providesprivate, semi-private and group instruction to adults andjuniors.
From 2007-2009, Halter was the program coordinator for the cityof Frederick, where he developed, scheduled and coordinated variousrecreational programs. Additionally, Halter has served as thesummer tennis camp director at Cattail Creek, a summer tennisinstructor with the city of Frederick, a tennis instructor at theWest Winds Tennis and Fitness Center in New Market and a tennistrainer at the Ida Lee Tennis Center in Leesburg, Va.
A 2007 graduate of Shepherd University with a regents bachelorof arts degree, Halter was a four-year letterwinner who led theRams to three West Virginia Intercollegiate Athletic Conference(WVIAC) titles. He played one singles and doubles from 2003-05, wonfive individual conference championships and participated in theNCAA Division II national tournament in 2002, 2003 and 2005.
