Hood's dominant goalie Will Lane will serve as a student coachon Jeremy Mattoon's men's lacrosse coaching staff for the 2013season.

A native of Walkersville, Md., and a two-sport athlete inlacrosse and soccer, Lane is a senior at Hood and will graduate inMay 2013. His Blazer career was cut short due to multipleconcussions after three seasons.

On the lacrosse field, Lane appeared in 33 games for theBlazers, starting 25 of them in the cage and ranks in the top fivefor multiple individual goalkeeping records. Lane ranks secondplace in both saves (305) and save percentage at (53.6). He is alsotied for first in goals against average at (10.6). His 153 saves in2010 rank him fifth all-time for saves in a season and hisgoals-against average of 10.44 in 2011 is first in the Hood recordbooks. Lane was also goalkeeper for the Blazer men's soccer teamfor three seasons where he was a standout performer as well. His229 career saves are second all-time and his 7.5 shutouts are tiedfor first.

Lane will bring a certain element of goalkeeping prowess andknowledge that should bring immediate benefits to Coach Mattoon'sstaff. Lane has the background and first-hand knowledge of thecollege game to not only help the goalkeepers on the practicefield, but also help them with in-game situations and adjustmentsthat the Blazers have not had in the past. With the addition ofLane, Hood will have a coach who can teach and guide the Blazersgoalkeepers and hopefully bring success to the defense as awhole.

Lane will graduate in May with a degree in environmental scienceand policy with a concentration in environmental biology and aminor in chemistry.
