Nick Humphries (men's soccer) and Caitlin Ambruster (women's volleyball) are the Hood College Athletes of the Week for the period ending September 4, 2022.Â
Humphries, also named Middle Atlantic Conference Commonwealth Defensive Player of the Week, turned in a 16-save week in goal. Against Eastern Mennonite, Humphries recorded six saves, five of those saves being point-blank shots in his first collegiate shutout win. On Saturday against Neumann, Humphries stepped up once again posting 10 saves to help boost Hood to the 2-1 comeback win over the Knights.Â
Ambruster had double figure kills and digs, along with multiple aces, in all three matches last week. She led Hood back from a 2-1 deficit for a five-set win over Shenandoah with 17 kills, 14 digs and six aces in the season-opener. Ambruster added 13 kills and 16 digs in a win over Notre Dame (Md.) on September 3. In a five-set match against PSU Harrisburg later that day, the junior added 16 kills, 14 digs, four aces and three blocks.Â
