Sappe broke the record in the mile run, with a time of 4:26.50, and finished first place in the event. His time cut a little over one second from the record previously held by Brett Shelley (4:27.37) in 2012.
The 4x400-meter relay team, which placed sixth in the event, broke the school record with a time of 3:32.45. The time cut over 6.5 seconds from the previous record, set in 2008 by Ola Komolafe, Tomilyao Komolafe, Mike Cahill and Blair Ames (3:38.71).
