Neumann College's John Tscheme scored in the 77th minute to hand the Hood College men's soccer team a 2-1 loss Tuesday afternoon.

The Blazers, playing their third of four straight home matches, received a goal from Marcelino Rabara, who has now scored in three consecutive games, and goalkeeper Chad Baker had six saves. The loss drops Hood to 1-5 in its inaugural season while the Knights improve to 3-2.

Hood outshot Neumann, 15-12, and dominated much of the second half, but Tscheme scored the game-winner on an assist from Shpat Breznica at the 77:24 mark. Breznica served a cross into the box from near the left flag and Tscheme half-volleyed a shot just under the crossbar to give the Knights a lead they would not surrender.

Rabara scored the Blazers' goal at the 58:41 mark on a penalty kick to tie the contest 1-1.

After the Knights' goalkeeper fouled him to set up the free shot, Rabara placed his penalty shot into the left side net.

Mike O'Brien gave Neumann a 1-0 lead when he took advantage of Hood defensive miscue and hit an easy shot into the back of the net.

Several times thoughout the match, Hood had opportunities to score, only to come up short. Midway through the first half, Rabara took a shot from 25 yards out on a restart, but Neumann keeper Josh Williams dove to deflect it. While still on the ground, Williams dove again to block Thomas Noonan's ensuing shot to keep the Blazers out of the net.

Williams made another nice save on a chip from Rabara three minutes before the half and at the 20:35 mark, Williams came up big again when he made a diving save on a Noonan header.

Hood will look to wrap up its homestand with a win Thursday when it hosts Villa Julie College at 4 p.m.
