Box Score FREDERICK, Md.-The Hood College men's soccer team handled
Christendom College, 5-1, in the opening game of the inaugural BFPE
International Fall Classic, held at Hood's Thomas Athletic Field,
on Saturday. In the second match-up of the day, Ferrum College
scored in the first overtime to outlast Marywood University,
2-1.
Play on Sunday begins at 11 a.m. with Christendom taking on Ferrum.
Hood will play against Marywood at 1 p.m. By virtue of Saturday's
win, Hood and Ferrum each have accumulated three points.
Hood 5, Christendom 1
Marcelino Rabara and Thomas Noonan each scored twice to pace Hood
(2-1). Guillaume Farges also scored for Hood and Rob White, Samson
Olorunfemi, Ben Snyder and Rabara each had an assist.
Chad Baker earned the win in goal for the Blazers with four saves.
Mike Freeman scored Christendom's lone goal.
Rabara opened the scoring just 37 seconds into the match with an
arcing left foot shot from about 40 yards out. Noonan followed with
his first goal before Freeman scored for the Crusaders as Hood took
a 2-1 halftime advantage.
In the second half, it was all Hood as Farges, Noonan and Rabara
each scored within an 18-minute span midway through the half.
Ferrum 2, Marywood 1 (OT)
Jack Collins scored three minutes, 45 seconds into the first
overtime to give Ferrum the hard-fought win.
Wes Tazzar served a long pass to Collins, who promptly beat
Marywood goalkeeper Danny Reynolds with the golden goal.
Tazzar scored the Cougars' first goal of the match at the 55:14
mark.
Todd O'Donnell scored Marywood's lone goal at the 76:24 mark on an
assist from Christopher Macauley.
Ryan Schilling had seven saves in the winning effort while Reynolds
and Todd Sharbaugh combined for eight saves for the Pacers.
