Box Score FREDERICK, Md.-The Hood College men's soccer team's bid to open
the season with back-to-back wins ended Wednesday afternoon when
Shenandoah University managed one second half goal to upend the
Blazers, 1-0.
Each team took 15 shots, but the Hornets' Aaron McGuiness fired off
a low-liner that weaved through traffic and past Hood goalkeeper
Chad Baker in the 52nd minute to account for the only score of the
match. The Blazers (1-1) had one last promising opportunity with
just over six minutes to play, but Guillaume Farges' shot from 12
yards out went just wide.
Baker, who recorded a shutout in Hood's opening 8-0 win over Mt.
Aloysius on Sunday, had nine saves and Shenandoah (1-1) keeper
Chris Peter had seven in the shutout effort.
The match featured six yellow cards, three for each team.
The Blazers gets back in action this weekend when they host their
first-ever tournament, the BFPE International Fall Classic. Hood
will take on Christendom College at 3 p.m. in the first game and
Marywood University and Ferrum College will square off in the
second game at 5 p.m.
Sunday's action will put Ferrum and Christendom against each other
at 11 a.m. and Hood will take on Marywood at 1 p.m.
