FREDERICK, Md.--The Hood College men's soccer team fell to
nationally ranked York College 4-0 in the first-ever Capital
Athletic Conference contest in school history Monday afternoon at
Thomas Athletic Field.
York (3-0-1, 1-0-0 CAC), which came into the game ranked eighth
in the country and fresh off a 1-1 tie with top-ranked and two-time
defending national champion Messiah last Thursday, scored twice in
both halves to seal the victory over the Blazers (1-3-0, 0-1-0).
Akeem Cyprian opened the scoring in the 30th minute when he
found the net off an assist from Andrew Wheeler. Wheeler scored
just over nine minutes later to give the visitors a 2-0 halftime
lead.
Seth Fornwalt and Drew Dutrow added goals in the second half.
Freshman Shawn Fernholz made seven saves for the Blazers.
Hood returns to action Thursday when it visits Mount Aloysius
College for a non-conference match beginning at 4:30 p.m.
