TOWSON, Md.--The Hood College men's soccer team battled Goucher
College to a 2-2 tie at halftime, but the host Gophers scored twice
in the second half to claim a 4-2 Capital Athletic Conference
victory Wednesday afternoon.
Goucher (5-3, 1-0 CAC) started the scoring just three minutes
into the contest on a goal by Geoffrey Gray-Cornelius.
Hood (3-4, 0-2) pulled even at the 17:25 mark when senior
Brendon Ricketts netted his third goal of the year with an assist
from senior Ben Snyder.
Ricky Balestrieri put Goucher back in front in the 41st minute,
but Hood sophomore David Wilson tied the game again just over a
minute later when he tallied his fourth goal of the year off an
assist from junior Tom Noonan.
Eddie Emokpae knocked in the eventual game-winner in the 62nd
minute off an assist from Travis Boland, and Adam Wilkinson tacked
on an insurance goal in the 76th minute to complete the scoring.
Tom Feuerstein, who entered the game to start the second half,
made five saves and held Hood scoreless in the final 45 minutes to
earn the win.
Blazer freshman Shawn Fernholz made seven saves in the loss.
Hood continues its quest for its first-ever CAC victory Saturday
when it visits Marymount University at 6 p.m.
