WASHINGTON, D.C. - Junior forward Tom Noonan scored a pair of
goals and senior Ben Snyder made nine saves to lead the visiting
Hood College men's soccer team to a 4-0 victory over Capital
Athletic Conference rival Gallaudet University Saturday afternoon.
With the win, the Blazers secured their first CAC victory of the
season and even their overall record at 5-5-0.
Noonan netted the first of his two goals in the fifth minute off
a feed from junior Marcelino Rabara.
The Blazers, who outshot the Bison 20-9, used a late flurry to
put the game out of reach. Rabara, now the team leader in assists
with five, fed junior Shane McCarrick in the 81st minute for Hood's
second tally of the afternoon.
Then, two minutes later, Noonan converted a penalty kick for his
team-high ninth goal on the year to give the visitors a 3-0 edge.
Sophomore Tom Sprague notched his second goal of the season in
the 85th minute off an assist from sophomore Brandon Garton to
complete the scoring.
The Blazers return to action Monday Oct. 2 against CAC foe St.
Mary's College of Maryland at 4 p.m. in St. Mary's City, Md.
