ROCKY MOUNT, N.C.--The Hood College men's soccer team fell to
0-2 on the year with a 3-1 loss to nearby Villa Julie College on
the final day of the North Carolina Wesleyan College Fall Classic
Sunday.
Villa Julie (2-0) used goals from Scott Andrzejewski in the 18th
and 30th minutes to build a 2-0 halftime lead.
Freshman Corey DeMaster scored his first collegiate goal in the
46th minute to cut Hood's deficit in half, but Villa Julie added an
insurance tally in the 67th minute when Brent Woolford found the
net with an assist from Andrzejewski.
Freshman Shawn Fernholz made four saves for the Blazers. Eric
Lowman stopped two shots in the first half for Villa Julie. Dan
McCleary and Adam Wiatrowski split the second half in net for the
Mustangs.
Hood looks for its first win of the year Wednesday when it hosts
Valley Forge Christian College at 5 p.m. at Thomas Athletic Field.
It is the first ever meeting between the schools.
