BALTIMORE, Md.--The Goucher College men's soccer team (4-7-1)
made an early statement, scoring three goals in the first 15:16,
and went on to upend Hood College (4-10) by a score of 4-2
Wednesday in a nonconference game.
Julien Greco assisted Evan Rose at the 7:41 mark of the first
half and scored a goal of his own just 14 seconds later to put the
Gophers up 2-0. Then in the 16th minute, Galen Guidon scored
Goucher's third goal which proved to be the margin at halftime.
Senior Shane McCarrick got the Blazers on the board just two
minutes into the second half when he netted his second goal of the
season off an assist from sophomore Quinn Miller. Miller is now
tied for the team lead in assists with four.
But just 1:29 later, Rose answered for the Gophers when he
registered his second score of the day off a feed from Tim
McMullen.
Sophomore Corey DeMaster and freshman Adam Peterson teamed up
for Hood's second goal of the afternoon in the 79th minute to cut
the deficit in half, but the Blazers were unable to pull closer.
Peterson netted his second goal of the fall and DeMaster tallied
his second assist on the season.
Sophomore Shawn Fernholz turned away four shots for the Blazers,
who managed just six shots on the day.
