SALISBURY, Md.--The Hood College men's soccer team (5-13) was
eliminated from the Capital Athletic Conference tournament Saturday
by top-seeded Salisbury University (13-4-1) by a final of 9-0.
Despite holding Salisbury's leading scorer, Kyle Sterling,
scoreless on the afternoon, the Sea Gulls amassed a total of 35
shots on the day, including 17 on goal. Shawn Fernholz made seven
saves in the loss as the Blazers managed just one shot, that by
freshman Adam Peterson in the first half.
Mike Napolitano nearly doubled his seasonal goal total in this
game alone. He had five goals to his credit coming into the CAC
tournament and netted four today, including Salisbury's first three
scores of the contest. Chris Finney registered a hat trick while
Ben DeLisle and Chas Gray also found the back of the net.
Three Sea Gull goalkeepers combined on the shutout. Salisbury
advances to the semifinals and will take on the winner of the St.
Mary's/Wesley matchup on Oct. 30.
