OWINGS MILLS, Md.—The Villa Julie Mustangs (6-6-1, 3-2
CAC) shut out the Hood Men's Soccer team (4-9, 1-6 CAC), on
the road today in a Capital Athletic Conference contest.
The Mustangs took an astounding 15 shots on goal in the first half
but the defense was anchored by goalie Shawn Fernholz's four
saves.
The Mustangs jumped ahead in the 33rd minute after Joel Mansker
scored off a Mario Loizou feed.
Both teams were aggressive in the second half taking eight shots
on goal apiece and both goalies were able to keep the game close as
each contributed three saves.
The Mustangs extended their lead in the 64th minute after Justin
Carver fed Scott Andrzejewski for the score.
Fernholz made seven saves in the losing effort and senior Shane
McCarrick tried to keep the Blazers in the game with three shots on
goal.
The Blazers look to end their three game losing skid Wednesday at
CAC rival Goucher College at 4p.m.
