ARLINGTON, Va.--Junior Jessica Parrish scored a career-high 16
points, hitting 6-of-11 from the floor, but the Hood College
women's basketball team dropped a 79-49 decision to the Marymount
University Saints Wednesday in a Capital Athletic Conference
contest.
The Saints remain a perfect 4-0 in league play with the victory
and improve to 11-1 overall. The Blazers slip to 2-9 overall and
1-4 in the CAC.
Marymount led wire-to-wire but the Blazers trimmed the
deficit to six (17-11) midway through the first half. Over the next
three minutes, the Saints outscored Hood 12-4 to assume a 14-point
edge (27-13) at the 6:53 mark. Hood would get no closer than eight
the rest of the stanza and the Saints took a 42-23 lead into the
break. The hosts would not relinquish their double-digit lead
in the second half.
Parrish's team high 16 points eclipsed her previous high of 12
points set against Goucher in November. Freshman Allyson Lethbridge
also reach double figures with 11 points. Sophomore Christi Valdez
connected on a pair of field goals and was 4-for-4 from the
foul line for eight points.
The Blazers wrap up the week Saturday at Wesley College. The CAC
contest gets underway at 2 p.m.
