FREDERICKSBURG, Va.--The Hood College men's soccer team (3-6,
0-1 CAC) fell to the University of Mary Washington Eagles (5-2-1,
2-0 CAC) Wednesday evening in the Blazers' first Capital Athletic
Conference match of the fall.
Freshman Jacob Ausherman scored his second goal of the season
with 30 seconds left in the second half off a feed from J.T.
Smaldore to account for Hood's lone tally on the afternoon. The
Eagles netted a pair of goals in the first half from Peter Toohey
and Tony Rodriguez and Toohey set up T.L. Tutor, the reigning CAC
player of the week, for a score in the 78th minute.
UMW outshot the Blazers 20-4 as Shawn Fernholz turned away six
shot attempts in the losing cause.
The Blazers continue CAC action Saturday with a road contest
against Marymount University at Washington & Lee High School at
7:30 p.m.
